About This Opportunity

The Gateway to Hollywood is a triangular piece of land located at the intersection of Cahuenga Boulevard and Franklin Avenue in the small northern area of Hollywood known as the Yucca Corridor.

In addition to native plant landscaping, bench seating and custom area lighting, the Gateway to Hollywood features a 30-foot triangular tower built of glass panels and stainless steel tubing that reads “HOLLYWOOD” on all three sides. The sign is visible from all directions to pedestrians and motorists traveling north or south on Cahuenga Boulevard and east or west on Franklin Boulevard.

This project was conceived and executed by the Yucca Corridor Coalition of Property Owners and Managers (YCC) in collaboration with local government agencies and community organizations.

The original design included that the sign be lit using L.E.D. lighting that fades gently across a spectrum of pastel colors, similar to the lighting installation located along Sepulveda Boulevard at the Los Angeles Airport. Lack of financial resources has resulted in the sign remaining unlit.

Light Your Legacy (a project of Visionary Enterprises in collaboration with the YCC) is YOUR opportunity to complete the lighting of the 30-foot “Hollywood” tower so that it will welcome and bid adieu to visitors entering or leaving Hollywood via this northern route, or traveling to or from the Hollywood Bowl, around the clock throughout the year.

Your $500,000 (five hundred thousand dollars) minimum donation to the YCC will…

Complete the lighting of the sign, immediately;
Provide much-needed funds for current upgrades to the property; and
Provide funding for an endowment dedicated to maintaining the sign and the property in perpetuity.

YCC is a 501 (c) 3 and 509 (a) non-profit organization dedicated to “enhancing the quality of life of all those who live, work, or visit in the area.” Your endowment will entitle you to designate that all of the funds be used solely to endow upgrades and maintenance of the Gateway to Hollywood lighted sign and property, or you may specify that some portion of your donation be used for one of more of the YCC’s neighborhood improvement projects, should you desire.

This is a first-come, first-served, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Only one individual, family, corporate or organizational donor will be selected for the honor of lighting the northern Gateway to Hollywood and endowing the sign and the property in perpetuity.

Your donation to the YCC will be tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. (Please seek legal counsel to determine specifically how this will benefit you.)

Remember that as a donor / contributor to this project of YCC (a non-profit organization), you can take full advantage of any tax consequences for fiscal year 2011, as per existing tax law and the advice of your legal counsel.
